One such recipe is this Tomato Moong Dal/ Tomato Pesara Pappu. Pesara Pappu is Moong Dal in Telugu (South Indian Language).
Ingredients List
- Dry Roasted Moong Dal -1Cup
- Tomato - 1 Big Chopped
- Onion - 1 Small Chopped
- Green Chillies (Slits) - 4
- Cumin & Mustard Seeds - Each 1/2 Tea Spoon
- Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tea Spoon
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4th Tea Spoon
- Cooking Oil - 1 Table Spoon
- Water - 1 1/2 Cup or As Required
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 Tea Spoon
- Cumin Powder - 1/2 Tea Spoon
- Cilantro/Corriander Leaves - For Garnishing
Procedure
- Take a Cooking Pan/Pot
- Add Oil and let it get heated
- Then add Cumin & Mustard seeds to sputter
- Add onions, green chillies
- Add ginger garlic paste and turmeric cook until raw smell is gone
- Add tomatoes and mix well
- Allow tomatoes to cook and then add dry roasted moong dal to it
- Keep mixing it for a minute and add red chilli powder and salt
- Add water and allow moong dal to cook for 15-20 minutes
- After dal is cooked add cumin powder and switch off the flame
- Serve Tomato Moong Dal with hot rice!!
